Level 5 bazooka not advancing mud?

Hey! I've got a level 5 taper that doesn't seem to advance mud anymore. The tape still advances, it just seems like the plunger cable doesn't want to wind up, when it's full of mud. When I have it empty, the cable winds up no problem. (Operates fine without any resistance)

Based on some basic troubleshooting, I feel like it might be the drive dog, but I'm struggling to find any actual troubleshooting for this issue, or even a real good explanation of the drive dog's purpose?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I have bought Level 5 tools in the past and have been very happy, these were mostly smoothing blades and knifes. I ordered new Mega boxes (10”-12”). These tools are junk. They leak mud like a siv They leave so much junk outside the box that I put them away and hand finished. i wish these companies had 1 employee on staff who knew how to finish drywall.
