Here, many workers use to say that when the trowel is to much rigid-non -flexible, (specially when new) you let it oxidize and then sand it with waterproof sand paper (small grain) and it goes FLEXIBLE !! better.. (every trowel has a silver lining?)

A boss told me that to cury trowls have a reddish plastic layer on it.. soak it in water and use a peace of wet paper and elbow greece to scrape it off
