Where should pricing be per board sq. Ft.?

due to the frustration of the low-ballers (you may be one of em, no offense) in our industry.

feel free to express where you think pricing levels SHOULD be at. im not talking in a 'good' economy, 'bad' economy, just generally, where should they be at in order for you to stay in business and still be PROFITABLE.

Please state REGION and PRICE RANGE per total board sf (only).

CALIFORNIA

Residential - Basic: .85 - .95 / sf.
Residential - Custom: .95 - 1.50 / sf.
Commercial: 1.10 - 2.00 / sf.

there.

please try to keep it simple guys, as i did above....dont get too technical.

im VERY interested to hear what all you have to say, from all your various regions.

this thread could create a firestorm.........as you all know from my reputation, im ready!

hah!

In Seattle

Residential .90-1.10

Custom 1.00-1.40

Commercial 1.50-2.00

Residential prices are for textured finish. This includes all materials, clean up, hanging, taping, masking, priming and texture

Re: Where should pricing be per board sq. Ft.?

yea.....very similar to Cali looks like. Makes sense.

yea, i do have to state as well, the price ranges on mine are for what i deem 'complete' drywall:

- supply our own labor, material

- hanging, finishing, spray texturing (or hand texture -- higher of course), clean-up...

All the basics i'd like to think for a full-service drywall company.

Gotta agree with Custom on what the pricing oughta be....

The only change I'd make is that commercial (on steel) should be tied to wall height. Starting off at 1.10 up to 11' and then adding .10 per ft. A 15' wall should be 1.50 and so on. Demising walls to the deck should be double.

And add to that complete service....walking the rough-in inspection with the inspector. That little item can save your schedule and the builder a ton of back-tracking to find out exactly what needs fixed in order to cover the work.

Level 5 vs Level 4 -- add .22 to .28 per ft

Bull-nose add $10 per stick, minimum.

And since it's a wish list....$500-$1000 per day for mobilization. To cover showing up and finding the job not ready or being sent home because to gas line not tested or fill in the blank.

man, i used to quote at the minimum .35 - .50 cents more per sf for level 5..........no way nowadays.

Darren, the 'mobilization' aspect of what youre talking about, that's interesting -- god, that'd be great 'insurance' so to speak.

i know you said it IS a wish list......but still, it makes sense.
