Websites Work
I just thought I would talk about something exciting for us lately. We recently launched a 'real' website and we have seen very big results from paying a professional to make a website for us instead of an amature like the two we hired before. We actually have had a site for about 6 years now but they never did anything for us. They just weren't built professionally and frankly they made us look unprofessional.
I am so excited lately about our new one because we saw results right away. Within the first day a guy booked us for a job after we sent him to our site. He called back in five minutes and booked his job. I was so happy to see that. We have also been using our local Craigslist and had our new site promoted on our trucks with vinyl. I cannot even tell you how awesome it's been to see a site finally work for us. We even showed up on Google within a week in the top 3 for Denver drywall, Colorado drywall and a few others. I cannot speak highly enough of the guys who put it together for us. If you are interested PM me and I'll give you their name. (Not sure f I'm allowed to post that sort of thing.) Anyway to end this post I just wanted to say that you will get out of a site what you put into it. I am speaking from experience. Once we paid what it was worth we noticed instant results. Be sure to hire a professional, after all that's what we tell our clients to do, isn't it? Oh, and let me know what you think of it. We realize it's new and there will be many things we will add. Any critcism would be appreciated.

Your not gonna find much use for heavy e-commerce code in a drywall business. You can basically get by with a billboard or very limited dynamic capability. Get a copy of Dreamweaver and read the instructions. You can build your own website. I wouldn't use Frontpage. Seen too many problems. When we built sites that were very interactive we use to use Dreamweaver to build the front end and then write our ejbs to access the back end. Today everything is moving towards Struts and Service Oriented Architecture. Thats if you live in India. Last edited by bob16; 02-17-2008 at 10:57 AM. |

Almost forgot. Yeah it looks good. Website tip - make sure your home page loads fast. I don't know how many times i run across sites that have enormous home pages that take 20 seconds to load. |

Re: Websites Work
Great website Mike.
Wish I had got mine professionally built. I used a template and packed it with photo's and informaion which still took days to put together. However, it still pulls in a lot of traffic and pays the bills for me and it's the first time I've advertised too. Last edited by amestaper; 10-12-2008 at 09:23 AM. |
