hey there

I am a third year carpentry apprentice. I live in Vancouver BC. I work for a small construction company. I started doing drywall finishing when I did some reno's at my new condo. I now am hanging and finishing some of the companies smaller jobs. I do all my work by hand so far. I'm pretty much teaching myself as far as technique is concerned. I studied the finisher's manual for BC and it answered a lot of the questions I had at the time. I really enjoy hanging and finishing drywall. The only problem is that I have no one teaching me. I am about to tape the biggest job I have done yet and I will be trying out a few new tools and techniques. Thats it for now.

you send me money, and I'll send you video on how to do it! It's a win-win

Re: hey there

Pretty vague on what you help with. And am a little surprised you can score big work so little experience. If you're in the Carpenters' union, how come you're taping? Isn't that scope for the Painters' & Finishers local? Bet the union rep wouldn't be too happy with you.

Re: hey there

i'm not in a union. i work for a smaller company and we do mostly renovations. the scope of my jobs is usually just a few rooms. right now we have just gutted an old basement and we are making it pretty again. i leave the big jobs to the pros.

Re: hey there

Sorry, got the wrong idea. Still vague on what you're having trouble picking up. The hanging should come pretty natural if you've got carpentry experience.

Re: hey there

he's talking about finishing. I'm guessing being he's asking about different trowels in the other forum

Re: hey there

I saw that too. He might want to go read some of the older posts first and bet he has fewer questions.
