and if cvp is really being written by a woman, i'll eat my pigtails!

there is nothing wrong with a woman contractor. but i just read it all and have to say i agree with the guys..Shes 21 just got out of school and is a metal framer, sheetrocker, ceiling installer and roofer. Great. and only charges 18.00 a hour. first of all all jobs i do especially commercial are a locked bid b4 starting. no contractor lets u do drywall by the hour. and at 18 a hour u have wc and gl and then 25% goes to taxes. how much do u pay ur top notch hangers and tapers.. 8 a hr because if not ur losing honey. me myself i pay my top guy 17 a hour and after taxes and insurance i cost around 35 % of the rate u pay. maybe ur husband taught u everything and weve just been doing it wrong for 15 years

Gosh, thanks.

Ok, maybe miss cvp is a real girl (but not quite a lady) and maybe she works for cvp construction, and she sure is young... 22 now... and knows "everything". Guys... she's not a contractor, she'd be an employee. First off, she's paid by the hour not the bd, 2nd she knows nothing about the business end of insurance, labor burden, etc and 3rd, the profile of cvp construction in ga lists a man.

have a good day all

Hmm.....
Remember Whitey...always capitalize the first word of a sentence....and the word loosing only has one o...ie losing....durr
Grammatical?
So just wondering what the point was of you being here was?

You come in wondering about pricing, and blowing smoke up your ass...(which I'd like to see actually). Then cop the whole modern diva b/s. Giving everyone crap 'cause their pigs...well you come off like a wanna be bitch.

You blew it (and...) in here, learn to eat some crow or find a new forum.

Re: Hello Lil Lady Drywaller/ Finisher/Hanger/Roofer in town

congratulations on your new endeavour. I wish you well.
A few things to keep in the back of your mind while you are developing your business model;
1. 94 percent of all new business fail within the first three years.
2. Always make sure you get the proposal/contract signed before you start work.
3. Stick to what you know. when you grow and diversify too quickly you will find that one bad week/month can quickly collapse on you.
4. Your FAILING competitors will be YOU one day if you don't start to raise your rates commensurately with your overhead.
5. Dont mistake your feminine charms for experience or superior quality. when I was 21 i was the greatest and smartest drywaller in the business and after all these years i am still surprised at how much everyone else has learned.
as a side note; what happens when your marriage goes south along with your hubby and his crews? Dont take yourself too seriously. You are simply a pretty face to deal with the salty dogs who hand out contracts. My guess is that your old man isnt smart enough to do it his self. However he was smart enough to give em a pinup model to deal with so good for him.
