I know every detail about my business, due to the fact that I have arranged, created and have accounted for every part of my business, including taxes. I am an entrepreneur who is a young mom...and I am currently attending college. I consider myself to be an innovator in this business because of this and I will not sway from this because some 40 something drywaller men cannot handle the thought of my triumphs in the aggressive drywalling business. Take a big BOOYAH and go on your way fellas. I can't understand why a drywalling lady can't get a bit of praise every once in a while...geez.:censore d:
Meanwhile I will keep on keep'n on.
Hey first off, thanks for returning and replying. Its good entertainment. Secondly, why don't you browse the forums, add comments and contribute to the topics, sharing some of your ideas with others. This website needs more people posting and creating topics to keep it entertained. Thirdly, you still have not answered my question if your people are covered with workers comp or not? This is where the line of legit and hackman or woman comes in play. You can cook, big deal, I was barbequeing and cooking pasta dishes at the age of 10. Forthly,
Microwaved dinners don't count- GURL!
And fifthly, if the DRYWALL KING saids your just some gurl, thats all you are and every will be until you answer questions when people respond to you.

P.S. - Are you one of those low-balling contractors who charges cheap to keep getting a bunch of jobs, and your only way of making money is by having a quantity of jobs or else you will lose money? If so, that won't last long. Stay in school and learn about business economics foo.

Fortunately my parents and the people I apprenticed for taught me a whole lot about humilty and respect. Whoever has “taught you all the tricks” has done you quite a “dis” service because you my dear have neither. Unfortunately neither you nor your husband have the time yet invested to make such proclamations. I hardly understand how someone with your busy schedule of child rearing, furthering your education, cooking and being the self-proclaimed queen of sheetrock has the time to even post here. If you are actually serious about making this construction venture of yours a career you could learn a lot here if you would follow one simple rule, I learned this one in kindergarten…You have two ears and one mouth use them accordingly. If you need advice on anything construction related you could not meet a better group of people then the ones who take the time to visit these forums and share their “wisdom” with those who still haven’t got it all figured out yet. So sweetheart, the next time you start feeling a little cocky and that no one is giving you your “props” take that little finger and give that piece of glass in front of you a little tap and realize that you might think you are a really big fish but the truth might just be that you are in a very small bowl. So step back from your reflection and take a few laps around that little plastic castle of yours because it is all relative. Best of luck to you hopefully with age comes wisdom. Remember this though, you can send a donkey to college but when it comes out it is still going to crap in the street . That being said, my name is Jenn, I am the other half of For Those About To Rock.
Get a hold of yourself, you made about as much impact on me as a piece of month old chewing gum would do if it were flung on a windshield on a rainy day. You don't know me,nor mi esposo, y por-favor don't attempt to gratify yourself by pretending you do, k?
Again, .....
Okay and ...still doesn't bother me?!? I quess I am just immune to all the b*tching going around about this blog because...unfortunately...what some of you..(and yes, sadly, are saying to a fellow construction worker who for some reason cannot have her morale and dignity to have gone through this never ending recession and made it in one piece DESPITE all those "things" people try to say about my experience and my company I HAVE STILL SURVIVED AND I DON"T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I AM DAMN PROUD!!!!???) I will not be some catylst for angry people to feed their anger on.. get over it.. this started as a happy-go-lucky post that I started over a year ago...about if someone thought some prices were decent or silly...on a day that I celebrated my 21st birthday and enjoyed a drink or two no less... but all of this IS WAY OFF THE POINT. This is a DRYWALL FORUM. Go bang your head against a REAL cement wall....cause you are not getting anywhere with me-those who have a problem with me..seriously. I don't know what the hell this country is coming to. Seriously...dare I wonder why the construction industry as always been viewed as a crowd of red-neck drunken old farts who whistle at every little thing that walks down the street? I don't need to because I KNOW that the majority of construction workers fufill this characterization perfectly..I am NOT sorry if I don't happen to fit that image because I am sure as hell that I don't want to. Yes, I am a little blonde spit-fire who wears her pink construction hat right along with her steel-toes boots every day to the job site, I don't take crap there, sure as heck won't here either. So move along, and do me a favor STAY OUT OF MY WAY, you waist my time.

Yes, of course all employees are completely covered by workers comp. I really don't even need to respond to that because despite the fact that I have really lost interest in this post due to what it has become... still want to let people know that I actually care about the people who work for me. It is expensive and damn my guys are worth it. The truth is, if your only motive in this field is the profit, you need to get the hell out because unless you really love your field, you either scamming customers or are on the brink of financial disaster trying to survive on the slim number of clients out there. Bidding is freaking annoying and all the weasles always come out of the woodwork and the client pays for it in the end by the quality of work. I am NOT swindling anyone, in fact I know that many high-charging crews are. I like my customers and like to provide 100% best work at awesome prices. The question is not whether you "can compete or not" with the guys with the low prices, it is whether your work is even at the same level and pace of the crew with that awesome price. We don't drive brand new F-150, 250's, Tundras or Silverados. We dont NEED them. We drive the same work trucks we been driving for years. And we like it that way. We LIKE being the good guy. GET IT?

Where do I start on the spelling and gramatical errors?

I guess as long as we're on stereotypes, she fits the bill for a "southern bell" type too....... or not

I drive a brand new truck because it's reliable, and I need it. How do your "clients" like it when you drip oil on their brand new driveways? or your "contractors" on their spec house garage floor? I think I'll pay the price for a new truck vs. loosing business. Besides, you'll learn, public image is everything.

A southern belle (derived from the French word belle, 'beautiful') is an archetype for a young woman of the American Old South 's upper class.

I grew up in the south "Georgia" to be exact and we have many words that could be used to describe this one...fortunately because of my upbringing I am not at liberty to use them! If this thread gets so deep that we must start wearing boots just to read it I will be happy to PM them to all! Rock On...Jenn

OK cpvconstruction. I’m going be the nice Canadian boy that’s going to try to get this post in the positive direction. Go ahead and be cocky if you want, I’ll forgive you since you are 21 years old and doing well in you first year of business. Just answer my questions and maybe we can learn from you. After all, we should be sharing ideas and helping ALL members out in this forum. Your young and fresh thoughts will be welcomed by me.
What is your gross and net profit margin in terms of percent?
What is your marketing mix and how much in percent of gross sales is your marketing budget?

why argue when i thought this iste was for helping folks with problems.i am also from the south and that has nothing to do with anything.sounds like a little jealousy to me ,i am a very hard worker and i have been around some lazy guys that sit around and complain about others but do nothing.hard workers just work.

with all the gripping how does any work get done seems like it could be just somthing to talk about for excitment some people have nothing better to do than to complain.if a girl can lift heavy boards she can do anything a man can do.all it takes is the want to and a brain.dosent matter girl or guy just if your want to is or isnt broken.people these days want the check but dont care about the job.sad as that is its the truth.been in the construction biz for 20 years and still counting.

Re: Hello Lil Lady Drywaller/ Finisher/Hanger/Roofer in town

Thank you, Kathie.
This forum is suposed to be about helping people, and obviously this thread is not helping anything/anyone...except maybe stroking the egos of those who pun in "what they think" about my business and work. I think I will delete this thread just to stop anymore idiots from doing so.
I am not going to answer anymore of anyone's "questions" because I will not continue with this bs. I am NOT a southern belle, and DO NOT want to be. A true WOMAN from the south does NOT have to be a southern belle to be a respected and intelligent woman ... THANK YOU LIVER....
I don't need to spend money on a new truck, nor do I want to because the TRUCK you drive has nothing to do with the quality of your work. My truck doesn't putter and leak, and I am proud to be someone who is confident in themselves and not their belongings. Period put, AGAIN ...my husband has been in this field for over 5 years and I have been for 3. I just started my own company over 1 and a half years ago, though that says NOTHING about my experience. This just adds to my example that a woman should expect to be shunned in this business by the fellow male assholes that she has to work with....and I won't stop because of it....it will only make me better!

Tata to all....enjoy your life

Wait a minute...was Whitey really trying to complain about errors in my post..? Maybe he should try using spell check next time he complains about someone else's errors before realizing that his post is full of them too.....
Hmm.....
Remember Whitey...always capitalize the first word of a sentence....and the word loosing only has one o...ie losing....durr
Grammatical?

Whoo! I'm glad she's gone. Everytime I read her posts my eyes would roll uncontrollably causing centrifugal force making my head vibrate like crazy.
Oh well, I guess some people are seasoned pros right out the gate, regardless of experience. I have a feeling life will slap her across the face at some point and she'll probably get it.

Go figure , typical woman drivin by emotions rather than common sence. I don't know who is worse you or Kathie, complaining about how this site is for the gaining of perhaps some knowledge in bettering yourself in the trades when all you two do is complain how unfair men are.
Typical, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen , or perhaps maybe you should just stay there, that's where women belong anyway right ? At least that is what a male chauvinist would say. In all my years in the trade I have yet to see any woman really keep up to a man in this field , not saying it can't be done but 9 out of 10 times there is always something holding them back either the physical ability or the mentality from their emotional ran minds. No one really knows you including myself so I will not pass judgement on what you can or cannot do, It is only my observation on the past post as to what really tells me as to who you really are. Most of it leans towards a bunch of B.S. because the lack of intelligent posts. So the next time you decide to post try to give us something that can be used instead of being so NEGATIVE.

Just like a punk to feel like they have to have the last word. C'mon broad...go home put your big girl panties on. If you conduct your business in any way close to the way you have conducted yourself in this thread, your foray into this construction business will be short lived.

Kathie...are you even in the trades...or are you just sticking up for this chick because she is a female. This thread belongs in the garbage. C/mon whiny girl get your last, last word in and put this thread out of it's misery.

OK boys, I've been reading this thread just for the hell of it and because it's 1am and i'm tired of putting bids together so I'm gonna make a confession... I'm a woman contractor (my dad was a man contractor and i started tagging behind him when i was 5 )

and if cvp is really being written by a woman, i'll eat my pigtails!
