Hello Lil Lady Drywaller/ Finisher/Hanger/Roofer in town

Hey! Ive got my own thing going on right now, in north Georgia!
Very proud of it! What do you think of my rates, and I crazy or what?
Framing/ Drywall/ Finishing/ Accoustical Ceilings * 16-18.00 an hr
40-60 sq ft + craftmanship drywall and paint charges
1.00 ft ridge vent
What do you think of my prices?
Im new in the Biz, so help me out!
I just turned 21 yesterday!!!!

I think Im doin pretty good, for bout a year now on my own, and my crews have it down tight!

Nice to see I have support in the Construction Community! Kidding!
Just because Im young does not mean Im not good at what I do, personally to be able to say that Im one of the few surviving drywall companys at this hard time in ga, should say something about my company. I know all levels of finishing, I can do anything textured walls, trey ceilings, accoustical ceilings, built-ins, sofits... metal framing and the list goes on. My husband has been doing this for 6-7 years, and hes taught me all the goods. All I can say is that my guys get the job done right, fast and on a tight budget. I think that is what customers are looking for right now, and that is why my business is flourishing right now, when most others and doin jack.

To you wondering why we are starting in the roofing, is becasue recently weve had a pretty serious hailstorm in ga, with a lot of damage. My past-customers have been coming to me looking for roofers with the same skills and talent as my framers/drywallers, and cant find them anywhere.

What I seem to find out there is a lot of contractors/subs just want to make a lot of money, quick. But they dont realize if they would keep their prices at a good income level for them-yet low enough for a tight budget, they would get more business. That is what we are doing, and if some contractors cant support that, I look at them as my failing competetor.

No offense, but you seem young to know whether or not your crews really have it down tight. To be that good at roofing, hanging and finishing I would think you probably have a little to learn in each one of those aspects of the trade. I've been doing mostly remodeling and doublewides for the past seven years and I still think I have much to learn. And I'm hella good at matchin texture. Your going in the right direction though using this website, it's a wealth of information. And as far as your prices, is the 16-18 an hour, man hours? Or what you work for? If thats what you work for and your as good as you think you are that seems low. No offense thats just my opinion, I think you might need a little more job experience.

What made you add roofing? I can see insulating because it goes hand and hand with sheetrocking many times. Just curious.

La-T-Da here we go again a young newbie that does it all ..... Are you a drywaller or a general contractor??? I guess it's ok to pat one self on the back and maybe you are pretty good ( for someone only 21 ) but you have to realize pretty good , and even more than that someone who is truly a professional in there tradethat it only comes with experience and time , even though you may have the knack who knows .... I have seen so many that have been finishing for years and still don't have a clue how to do good work don't take this as a slam but come on , you can't fool people ..

Good for you, getting your feet wet like that at such an early age. Something to keep in mind - there's being busy, and then there's making money. You can sometimes make more money by asking a little more, and being a little less busy.

I can't tell you how good your pricing is, as I'm up in Canada. I will say that I don't think you could bill out labor anywhere near those hourly prices where I live and have tight crews and a profitable enough business.

Seasonal affective disorder(?) Nothing like getting outside in the sun to help it. Regardless, could keep the crews happier and around, when they can work outside on some nice days.

Just because something doesn't quite go hand in hand, there can be better money in work that's affected by weather. Having inside work for when the weather turns, and outside work for when it's nice, could actually be quite profitable. Not in all instances, but in some. I've done it.

And the outside workers are looking jealously inside when the weather turns. Let me have the best of both worlds, inside and outside. I'll take less pay.

What kind of ceiling textures are they wanting around Dahlonega these days?? You can add first coat primer to the texture job if it is sprayed. This would add big profits from a very time efficient operation.

DBA Whipass Spray Textures in the Atlanta area 2000 - 2005, I frequently made $300 an hour at going rates with this operation. The rates for the walls were less then painting rates.

Thanks, for the input! We do more on the commercial aspect, so not much texturing! Although, we have been doing a few homes lately, and those customers have been asking for whole-room textures! I must say, I have it in my home too, and I love it!

You'll get support where it is needed but saying your are only 21 and have been on your own for a year ,,, sounds like you are all puffed up with pride , that can be good but it can also lead you for a turn for the worse... lets give it about another 5 years and see if you can still boast ,,, then respect can be given.... anyone can have a good year and if you have one on your very first year of being in business kudos to ya .... but again time never lies .. we all like to embelish our own selves even at times i find myself caught up doing the same thing , but I stand back and take a good look at myself and asked myself why do this ? don't make a whole lot of sense trying to convince others to think better of us by what i may boast about ( usually it will work against you ), but what i do .... saying one thing and doing is another.. make any sense ??? Maybe this will come with a hard few knocks of life , it's not just handed out for free..

I stopped reading when I saw that she had a husband... from then on all interest was lost. Sounds like a deva that just wants attention, also known as a forum-whore.

Okay, don't know why you would lose interest when reading that I am married....maybe because you are a sexist pig who can't deal with a woman in your playing field?? That just simply states what kind of jerk you are to only read my post simply because I am a female, and I have a fairly hot picture of myself on my avatar??
