New Subforum for DIY? whaddya think?

We still get several DIYers poking around. Most of us send them packing to DIYTalk. But how does everyone feel about asking Nathan to dedicate a Subforum to it?

Good and bad If they are only allowed to post there where the professional could give them advice or offer services. Then again it's like take the hand from the mouth that feeds you in a sense as everyone wants that extra work if you explain them how then less they will hire a contractor. And there are quite alot of how to sites out there. On the other side they may remember the professional that helped them and request his services. Where do you draw the line?

Re: New Subforum for DIY? whaddya think?

I was thinking the same thing, but there are forums just for DYI people. If we bend over constantly helping them then they start to think they are professionals, we sure have enough of those already. And besides that I don't mind curious people out there but again all they have to do is read the threads that have already posted there is a wealth of information if they would only read them before asking some mundane question that has been covered umpteen times. I think we should just keep things the way they are for Drywall Talk, that is just my two cents worth, either way not for me to decide.

I suppose it could be tried and see where it leads, if it does not work out remove it, nothing gained nothing lost right ?

Your suggesting a Drywall forum on DIYChatroom.com and NOT a DIY forum on here right?

That ( a Drywall Forum at DIYTalk ) would be more appropriate. I just was thinking out loud about how we ( myself included) have chased the DIYers off this site several times. One of us could go over to DIY daily and field questions much easier than letting them all in here.

You get the credit. Once I opened the thread, I realized it would create problems.

No, this is a pros only site. If you see DIY posts report them and we will remove them from the site.

Thanks.
