seriously......i would love to see prices region to region.........

drywall companies like mine can get cheaper prices than retail.....so i know it varies......but i would die to see prices ppl are getting around the u.s.

roughly, i get normal 1/2" 4 x 12 at $162.oo per 1000 sf.

that's around $7.78 per sheet.

anyone with input on their pricing, PLEASE POST!

Yes,$180.00 per 1000.

That's an average price here. This price includes delivery & stocking.

I could probably shop around & find a little better deal, but I've been using this supplier for over 20 years & they do a great job stocking. No damaged board, no door openings or hallways blocked, AND NO PROPERTY DAMAGE!

Well.....

okay, 180/1000 incl stocking....and delivery.....if thats correct, than that isnt that bad actually.

and i cant necessarily say my supplier does a 'great job'....

i get complaints on their stocking 20% of the time from homeowners/builders/contractors......and thats definitely 20% more than i need.

ive forwarded for my clients nearly a dozen bills this year to them for property damage.......ranging in as little as 60 bucks.....to 5 grand.

i just got a call matter of fact from one of my contractors.....that my suppliers truck knocked over a large, perfectly stacked pile of lumber, hah!

freakin ridiculous!

and dont ask bout damaged board.......or WRONG board. a month ago, they stocked a commercial job i had with 1/2" instead of 5/8" which i CLEARLY instructed. hell, THEY should know most commercial is 5/8" period around here.

and its not like we had to swap out 30-50 sheets of 1/2".........................but this was 1,300 SHEETS!

amazing these guys.......never underestimate em. i could go on for dayyyys of stories about these guys...the stocks theyve done for me......stories everyone at the office will just laugh all day at.

ANYWAYS...muddauber
so that price isnt THAT bad, if youre HAPPY.

my supplier gives me fairly good prices....but with a lotta bullsh-t in between.

my supplier is raising prices soon anyways as well

:P

good luck
(everyone of us in the drywall business needs it, especially NOW)

Up in northern Mn I pay .21 for 1/2" & .245 for 5/8 or 54"x 12'-1/2" It did come down some several months ago but this is where it is at now delivered & stocked damaged free. It is USG which is good compared to others out there. I'm not so keen on some of the so called generic brands which I won't mention but I think others out there that have gotten into the Sheetrock market in the past few years don't quite have there quality control up to where it should be.

as far as quality control, i mostly pay attn to the mud moreso than the sheetrock. i mostly use USG and Pabco anyways......not a huge variety, but mud is the key for me.

ive gotten too many bad pallets in the past......i primarily use USG and Hamilton/westpac. but it doesnt matter, ive gotten tons of bad mud from EACH of them. nothings perfect necessarily off a factory line -- i just wish their own reps would admit this once in a while.

So where do you find wallboard at that cost and what brand is it??? is that a delivered price?? I know if i buy from either tamarack or drywall supply there is usually a price difference even between the same companies depending on their location , i can buy out of st. cloud cheaper than duluth and still have it delivered even though it is farther away , go figure don't make much sense to me must be there volume....

We're paying .185 for 1/2", but less on big jobs. Heard yesterday increase letters from USG,etc are in the works(LOL).

Custom, feel ya on that mud issue. We use only regional manufacturers, mostly Magnum (made here in KC). Usg disappoints if you get North Dallas but East Chicago product is okay if fresh. The N. Dallas product is blended for a different climate or something. We use only Pro-form Blue(lite) for KD as it sands off our Magnum w/o burning the top angle. Magnum is around 9.25 per 4.5 gal. Proform blue is about 8.85 per 3.5 gal.
May be switching to Freeman (Oklahoma). Paying 185m on metal bead @ supply house. Can save a few $ buying Homedepot's but it telegraphs badly.

We could write a book on those stockers. Switched supply houses last year on account of it. One job in high-end subdivision (a remodel w/ establish lawn) they drove through the yard w/ a hydralic leak spreading fluid the entire length of driveway(Citri-Clean @ $40.00 per gallon), then turned around in the back yard(ruts!!!) then drove across the pool slab(broken in three spots) continuing to spread hydralic fluid onto pool cover(old cover but clean beforehand). Then set legs into turf without dunnage underneath. Boom operator skinned up the gutter, broke the lite over the back door, and raked the wrought iron railing. To add insult to injury, one-manned 14's & 16's off the cart, breaking the rails 4'+ along the bottom edge. Had to laugh though when I called my supplier he complained that they blew two tires(@400.00 per) as they side swiped the dumpster. All this to avoid a carry of about 50 feet. I did my best to make it right but never got another job from the client. Priceless.

Or how about the hot-shot driver who jumped out of the truck at the site and pissed on his tire. Ahem, the builder & the Johnny were both 20 yards away. Same driver drove through septic field($1500) that was clearly marked. Thankfully he is no longer employed.

.........you got....to be kidding me. wow hahahaha, that was a nightmare...god forbid that ever happening to one of my jobs.

yea, i had a material guy drive thru the septic field as well -- just like you said, bout 1500 bucks.

what you described above was SO bad, i almost think you're lying, hahahaha.

seriously, those stockers are complete morons. they just dont think. the worst ones are the ones that get paid by their boss @ piecework.......however, cant truly say that, hourly paid ones ive seen can be just as bad.

this is all the nature of the beast you could say. sucks, but we gotta put up with it. i dont think you even require a high school degree to be working as a stocker for a material house.

I can't make this stuff up. That was just the most memorable ones. And yes, the hourly stockers are better. To be fair though, I really wouldn't want that job for love nor money. I'd sooner clean septic tanks than pack board. But a lot of folks say the same for hanging rock.

No, it didn't occur to me.

Looks like your cheaper suppliers try to make it up the delivery.
One gets me for $17.50 fuel surcharge and another for $25.00.
And there is another one around here selling about .03 cheaper than everybody else, but you wouldn't want their board or their stockers.

Thumbs up Second language

A mother mouse was out for a stroll with her babies when she spotted a cat crouched behind a bush. She watched the cat, and the cat watched the mice. Mother mouse barked fiercely, "Woof, woof, woof!" The cat was so terrified that it ran for it's life. Mother mouse turned to her babies and said, "Now, do you understand the value of a second language?"
