I wouldnt want to be IN a house where they didn't glue the rock. Nails and screws are to pull the sheet into the glue. I'm sure you've seen ceilings that billow between studs like a tent or curtain.
Yes I've seen finishers do that too. They get away with alot here too.

Well your always going to find slip shodders. My point is at least in the DC area they are aware of how to do a proper job. They might not always do it but at least they know how to.

In NY they don't even know.

I'm telling you mention glue in NY and there is a very good chance they will laugh at you. Obviously they never read the USG handbook which tells you that gluing the drywall makes the whole freaking house much stronger.

Re: Immigration and labor issues?

We need to elect public officials who will even the field for all of us. In Oklahoma it's a felony for a U.S. citizen to "knowingly provide shelter, transportation or employment to illegal immigrants". One of my good friends, and a very good taper, moved to Tulsa from the Twin Cities (Minnesota) this past December when the Oklahoma law took effect. He said the state emptied out like a dam had broke. He's working six days a week now vs. 1 or 2 when he lived here in the United Socialist Republic of Minnesota.
Find out the names of your representative's, State and Federal, let them know how you feel. We're now a nation of whiners, waiting for someone else to fix things for us!

Re: Immigration and labor issues?

Oklahoma is the example for the rest of the nation with illegal immigration labor issues, but unfortunately the rest of the country is not following the example. We all need to petition our state representatives and do something about this.

Bob16- I own a drywall co here in the burbs and I offer glue, never use nails and glue all cornerbeads and run angles with an anglehead. Some of us offer quality. I keep the USG handbook centennial editon in my truck. There are still a few guys that are willing to do it right.
