Cost and Time required for legal immigration and citizenship...
Hey I've heard numbers but I don't have anything solid... What does it require to legally immigrate to the USA? Particularly what does it talk to become a US citizen? Anyone know? Time? Application costs? Legal fees? From what I heard it's way higher than it ought to be... Make it easier and cheaper and won't a good chunk of the immigrants go the legal rout? Then they contribute to the tax and economic structure of the US... They can buy houses, cars etc.. Report violent crimes... They would integrate better into society as a whole without fear of being reported etc... What am I missing?

Re: Cost and Time required for legal immigration and citizenship...
I have heard from a couple employees in the past all together it cost around $10,000...
Don't know if it is true or if it was true and has now changed... But it is definitely more than the average Joe can afford. More than the average American can afford let alone someone who is only making $10 a day... |

Re: Cost and Time required for legal immigration and citizenship...
First thing is they make more than $10 a day maybe $10 an hour or more is accurate. Second I agree they should make it cheaper because people do want to come here legally. As far as easier, i think it can't be easier. It would be if immigration would do their job and enforce our laws. Unfortunately it's easier to be illegal than legal. I have a guy that went through the process for 2 years. I felt bad for him but i realize the guy wanted to stay here so much he went through it and is glad he did. He is a U.S citizen today. He worked real hard to have what we take for granted. And when all was said and done he was truly proud to be an American. We need people like that here. That's the difference between legal and illegal. Unfortunately our government doesn't know the difference and combines them as immigrants and that makes the good look bad.

I'm saying they are only making $10 a day in Mexico meaning they can't purchase the required documents off of what they make so they just jump the fence...

Why do it legally when you can cross freely, not pay taxes and still get welfare and free healthcare. But I'll tell you what, I certainly have respect for those that do it legally. And I also agree it should be easier. I think they should let them join our military then after four years your in. What better way to show you want to be a part of the best country in the world than too serve it.

You go, A+. Let them serve if they want to be here. Let them pay taxes, etc. just like everybody else. It seems to me, they want to be treated equal but not contribute equal. Something doesn't seem right about that.

But what about the women and children? What would you have them do? The women should have that choice too, but who would care for the children? Certainly not the men who had left for training! Its a great idea, but it has many holes in it. ![]() By the way, in my state of Georgia, you must provide citizenship/residency papers to recieve those benefits. Also, only a very small amount do not pay taxes. It seems to me people just want an excuse to hate. Last edited by cvpconstruction; 04-28-2009 at 11:20 AM. |
